God is a surgeon and gardener.

Sometimes we have things that we do not know are bad, like a disease or infection we cannot see or feel. But we know that it is eating us inside, and it is destroying us. Even though we may be numb to it, even though we may be okay living with it, we know it needs to be treated. Sometimes the surgery could be more painful than having that disease around. But once the surgery is finished and treatment takes place, we will be made purified, clean, and new again.

Pruning is when you remove and cut off branches and leaves and part of plants that are rotting or dying or dead. In the end, it will help the plant grow more fruitfully, but in order to do so, the plant needs to be pruned so it could keep growing. We need to not only trust in the pruning, but we need to trust the gardener. We need to trust that God is a good God. That through his pruning, we will be made better and more like Him. So even if it hurts, we will hold on knowing that it is better for us

“God loves us the way we are, but too much to leave us that way.”

My heart will choose to say, Lord blessed be Your name. Your pruning I delight in, in Your refining I take joy. All I ask is that as You are stripping me of everything that I once knew and took comfort it, please give me more of You and only You.
